Galway’s fighting four claim national titles

Galway Black Dragon fighters have claimed podium positions at recent kickboxing events.

Patrick Birrane took home the men's ISKA Irish Open 75kg National Kickboxing Light title in Derry last weekend. In women's events, Giulia Comini won the senior women's All-Ireland 65kg K-1 crown at the ISKA Open.

Comini is also a postdoctoral researcher in the transplantation and treatment of stem cells for Parkinson's disease treatment. She now travels to Rome on May 18 for her next fight accompanied by coach Pete Foley and fellow Black Dragon fighters Darren van Strien of Rahoon and Corey O'Malley from College Road. O'Malley will be making his professional debut.

Faith Foley won the senior ladies' All-Ireland 60kg K-1 Light by first round knockout in Derry last Saturday. Faith is the daughter of Black Dragons coach Pete Foley.

There were more winners for Black Dragon too. Eddie O'Reilly won the senior men's 85kg K-1 Light All-Ireland title. He claimed victory in the final by judge's decision.

The four title-winning fighters will be in action in Galway's Ardilaun Hotel on September 20.
