Lexus has unveiled its eighth-generation ES model scheduled to arrive in Europe in spring 2026.
Set to be available with either a petrol mild-hybrid or a fully-electric engine, the new Lexus ES will also be offered with front and all-wheel drive options.
The ES 300h features a redesigned self-charging hybrid system with a 2.5-litre in-line four-cylinder engine, producing maximum power of 201 DIN hp/148 kW. This will be paired with a CVT transmission.
Two battery electric ES versions will be available: the ES 350e front-wheel drive model delivering an output of 224 DIN hp/165 kW, and the all-wheel drive ES 500e, with an output of 343 DIN hp/252 kW. Both electric models will be built on Lexus' architecture-K platform, including new eAxles and a floor-mounted battery. No battery size or range figures have been revealed by Lexus as of yet.
The new Lexus ES is over five-metres in length, 1.9-metres wide, and 1.5-metres high, making it a much larger car in every dimension than the current model. The positioning of the tyres also underwent millimetre-level adjustment to obtain an ideal wide and low stance.
Lexus says it has designed the cockpit to ensure the driver’s attention is focused on the road ahead by arranging controls and information sources so they can be operated and recognised with just the slightest movement of hand and eye. The upper section is wide open to prioritise the driver’s view, while the climate control is presented in an asymmetrical 12.3-inch digital array, allowing for a lower meter hood to be used. Material quality is said to be raised with soft leather-like accents and dynamic lighting effects.
Irish pricing and specification for the new Lexus ES will most likely be revealed early next year.
