Having lost nearly two stone at her local Slimming World group in Tuam, Pauline Singleton Lynch has trained as a consultant for Slimming World and will launch a new group in Headford on April 24.
Pauline had gained weight steadily over a 10-year period, having become a carer to family members. She says, “I was annoyed and disgusted with myself, especially as I could no longer wear my wedding ring. I didn’t feel healthy - I suffered from IBS, and digestive problems. I had come to believe that the weight gain was due to stress and that it was permanent. As my 59th birthday approached I realised that if I didn’t do something radical the weight gain would become permanent.”
Pauline joined Carmel’s Slimming World group in Tuam following encouragement from her sister who was successful there. She says, “I was made to feel so welcome and on my first night, I had a complete mind reset. The new member talk made the plan seem easy to follow. I love that I can eat the foods I like and never feel hungry or deprived. I love the support I get from my consultant and group, listening to other members' experiences, getting tips and recipes.”
“Since losing my weight I feel energised, renewed and I’m looking forward to helping others to bring the changes to their lives that I brought to mine. It’s a privilege for me to be able to pass on the experience, insight and understanding that helped me, so that I can give my members the support they need to get to their target. I know the challenges people can face, which is why, along with the group, I will be there to support my members all the way to their chosen target weight. That’s why, at my Slimming World group, there will be tons of support, encouragement and fun.”
