The wonderful orchestrated performance of Same Oul’ Town featuring the Saw Doctors and the RTE Concert Orchestra on last Saturday’s Tommy Tiernan Show is to be released globally as a single tomorrow (Friday )
In a surprise ending to the show, the legendary Tuam rockers joined up with the RTE Concert Orchestra under conductor Gavin Murphy, to deliver a powerful version of their song Same Oul’ Town, the title track of the band’s UK top ten album from 1996.
Gavin Murphy, who previously arranged N17 for the Tolü Makay’s acclaimed 2020 performance with the RTE Concert Orchestra, brought a fresh and invigorating dynamic to the arrangement of Same Oul’ Town with Davy Carton on lead vocal and Leo Moran on guitar.
“It was an amazing experience to be backed by the RTE Concert Orchestra” says Davy Carton, “without a doubt, the highlight of my career.”
“I never imagined when we started out, we’d get a chance to play one of our songs with an orchestra” said guitarist Leo Moran, “Gavin Murphy wrote a magical score for Same Oul’ Town.”
Saw Doctors manager Ollie Jennings told the Advertiser on Monday that the video clip of Same Oul’ Town by The Saw Doctors ft. the RTE Concert Orchestra had by then well over a half a million views, 1,800 shares, 8,200 likes and 696 comments.
There were almost 220,000 views on Instagram for the Same Oul’ Town video. The interview clip with Davy Carton and Leo Moran had more than 330,000 views on Facebook.
Shamtown Records will release the TV Version of Same Oul’ Town featuring The Saw Doctors and the RTE Concert Orchestra as a single tomorrow Friday April 11 on Spotify, iTunes and other digital platforms, marking another milestone in The Saw Doctors 35-year career.
