Fancy being a Summer Street Ambassador?

Are you one of those locals who can not resist directing tourists looking lost?

Do you aspire to be one of the boys and girls in blue?

Perhaps your time has finally come... The Galway Volunteer Centre is recruiting for Street Ambassadors for summer 2025.

This is a blue t-shirted team deployed in Galway city centre to assist visitors with information on events and activities over the coming months.

This is the second year of the project, following a successful pilot year in 2024.

Organisers report that last summer, a dedicated and diverse team of 25 volunteers assisted 1,300 visitors to the city with information and directions.

“The aim of the Galway Street Ambassadors is to make visitors feel more at home in Galway and share local knowledge about the city... ” says Donncha Foley, Development Manager of Galway Volunteer Centre.“You don’t have to be an expert on Galway to join the team, and becoming a Galway Street Ambassador is a great opportunity to get involved in your community. It’s a chance to learn about your local area, meet new people and develop new skills.”

The role of the Street Ambassadors is to walk a route around the city, chatting to and offering help and information to tourists during a three-hour shift. Volunteers are required to do at least one shift per month, and will be paired with other volunteers.

Potential ambassadors will be interviewed, and successful applicants will receive training before starting volunteering in mid-May.

Registration is online at https://bit.ly/GalwayStreetAmbassadors.
