Three creative companies from Galway are set to receive financial support from Coimisiún na Meán as part of its €7m Sound and Vision Scheme.
The government media body has announced €7.1 million in funding to support 84 broadcasters and independent producers around the country. Projects include documentaries, dramas and animations, as well as entertainment and educational programming.
“We are delighted to be able to award Sound and Vision funding to a variety of radio and television projects which will significantly add to the availability of a diverse range of programming for audiences across the country,” said Rónán Ó Domhnaill, Media Development Commissioner at Coimisiún na Meán.
Projects in Galway include three radio projects.
Connemara Community Radio's Celebrating 30 is an entertainment series that will delve into the programming archive of Connemara Community Radio to review the past 30 years of broadcasting.
Turntable Stories is a series of four episodes for the University of Galway’s student radio station, Flirt FM, to explore vinyl culture.
Celebrating the 48th Clifden Community Arts Festival, Arts on Air will bring a total of 39 hours of programming to the local community and will include recording of concerts, readings and performances as well as in-studio interviews and performances by visiting artists on Connemara Community Radio.
