Mercedes Benz has unveiled its new CLA, which is expected in Ireland before the end of 2025 in both all electric and hybrid powertrains. The new CLA is the first model in a completely new family of vehicles from the brand.
The new all-electric CLA, specifically the 250+ with EQ Technology version, comes with a usable 85 kWh battery with a 800-volt electrical system capable of doing up to 792 kilometres (WLTP ) on a full charge, along with a maximum DC charging speed of 320 kW.
Mercedes-Benz says the rear-wheel drive CLA 250+ with EQ Technology has a single motor with 335Nm torque, a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds, and a top speed of 210km/h.
A two-speed automatic gearbox is also fitted to the new electric CLA.
Joining the 250+ with EQ Technology in the new CLA range is the dual-motor, four-wheel drive CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology version. This also has a usable 85 kWh battery with a 800-volt electrical system, but a slightly lower WLTP range of up 771km.
Performance figures for this version are greater, however, with 515Nm torque and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds. Its top speed has not been disclosed as of yet.
For the hybrid-powered CLA, Mercedes-Benz tells us it will use a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine coupled with a 1.3kWh battery and 20kW electric motor, and an eight-speed DCT gearbox. At the moment we know that the hybrid will be front-wheel drive, but no performance or economy figures have been released yet.
Inside, the new Mercedes-Benz CLA gets an ultra-long screen running the width of the cabin, comprising a 10.25-inch driver display, 14-inch centre display and an optional 14-inch passenger side screen. There also a mention of a 12.2-inch heads-up display.
Other interior features of note include a panoramic roof as standard, a wireless phone charging pad, four additional USB slots and an optional 850-watt Burmester surround sound system.
Exterior features include a sporty A-shape grille with 142 individually animated LED chrome-effect stars.
More details on new Mercedes-Benz CLA, including Irish pricing and spec, will be announced in the coming months.
