New Ford Capri available now

The new Ford Capri is now available in showrooms nationwide. The nameplate has been revived after a four-decade hiatus.

Returning in the guise of an all-electric coupé SUV, the new Ford Capri is priced in Ireland from €47,270 (including SEAI grant ) for the 'Select' trim.

The new Ford Capri is built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB electric vehicle platform, with two powertrain options available. The first is an all-wheel drive (AWD ) variant equipped with twin electric motors for 340hp and a 0-100km/h time of 5.3 seconds. This has a 79kWh battery with a quoted WLTP range of up to 592km.

There is also an extended range rear-wheel drive (RWD ) model. This has a 286hp electric motor providing a 0-100km/h sprint time of 6.4 seconds, while its 77kWh battery gives a quoted WLTP range of up to 627km.

DC charging is up to 135kW for the RWD and 185kW for the AWD, both of which can be charged from 10-80 per cent capacity in less than half an hour, according to Ford.

The brand describes the interior as luxurious with a minimalist and digital feel, with soft touch materials and sculptured one-piece front seats. Standard high specification comfort includes 19-inch wheels, keyless entry and start, heated front seats and steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and driver’s seat with massage and memory function.

The 'Premium' trim is priced from €50,990 (including SEAI grant ) and adds 20-inch alloy wheels, power operated tailgate, fixed panoramic roof, Matrix LED headlamps, 10-speaker premium B&O sound system, full Sensico seat trim and ambient interior lighting.

The new Ford Capri has up to 572-litres of boot space, a foldable boot floor, a 17-litre MegaConsole beneath the front armrest and more storage behind the sliding 14.6-inch centre screen. Available colour choices include ‘Blue My Mind’ and an exclusive ‘Vivid Yellow’ (pictured ).
