Epilepsy Ireland (EI ) has issued an appeal to the Galway public to take part in its new 24-Hour Squat Challenge to raise funds for its services across the county.
The challenge has been launched to coincide with their biggest fundraising day of the year – Purple Day on March 26. Participants are challenged to complete at least 24 squats per day from March 24 to March 28 in recognition of the estimated 3,000 people who live with epilepsy in Galway. Participants of all levels of fitness are welcome and you can set your own target to suit your ability.
Speaking about the new challenge for Purple Day, Epilepsy Ireland Fundraising and Development Manager, Cian Dikker, said: “The 24-Hour Squat Challenge is a fantastic way for people to get involved, challenge themselves, and show their support for those living with epilepsy. Every squat and every donation will help to continue the work of our Community Resource Officer team across Ireland and ensure that EI can continue to invest in vital research projects. Alongside this, every conversation about epilepsy sparked by this challenge helps to create a more informed and supportive society.
"We encourage everyone—whether you have a personal connection to epilepsy or simply want to support a great cause—to take part. The challenge is fun, inclusive, and a great way to get moving while making a difference. We cannot wait to see people across Ireland joining the challenge to raise vital funds."
