Start a career in IT with a 10-week blended course starting on April 14. This blended course will be held two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday ) in the training centre in Mervue and three days via video session with the tutor.
This introductory course to basic IT will help participants decide if a career in IT is right for them. It will also assist them understanding the various areas within IT and help them assess which area may be most beneficial for their interests.
Modules Include:
· IT concepts and terminology: Illustrate the basics of computing and explain the value of data and troubleshooting.
· Software development: Comprehend programming language categories, interpret logic and understand the purpose of programming concepts.
· Infrastructure: Set up and install common peripheral devices to a laptop/PC or secure a basic wireless network.
· Applications and software: Manage applications software and understand the various components of an operating system.
· Security: Understand confidentiality, integrity and availability concerns of secure devices.
On successful completion of this 10-week blended course and passing the online exam, participants will achieve the CompTIA IT fundamentals certification by CompTIA - the world’s leading tech association.
Opportunities for further progression after successful completion into the various areas of IT are available with past graduates moving into further education in areas such as software development, networking and cybersecurity.
