This year marks a significant milestone for Declan O’Connor and his team at O’Connor Dry Cleaners, as they proudly celebrate 25 years in business. Located in Tesco Shopping Centre, Knocknacarra, the family-run business has become a cornerstone of the community, providing high-quality dry cleaning and laundry services to generations of customers.

Declan O’Connor’s journey into business was heavily influenced by his parents, Tommie and Mary O’Connor. With a strong family ethos built on early mornings, hard work, and a commitment to excellence, Declan credits his late father—formerly of Western Pride Bakeries in Ballinrobe—for encouraging him to take the leap into entrepreneurship. What was a building site 25 years ago was transformed into a thriving, respected business that continues to uphold the values instilled in Declan from a young age.

Reflecting on the past quarter-century, Declan expresses deep gratitude to his loyal customers and dedicated staff, without whom the business would not have reached this milestone. “I am incredibly grateful to our customers who have supported us over the years. Their loyalty and trust have allowed us to continue serving Knocknacarra with the best dry cleaning and laundry services. I also want to acknowledge my incredible staff, past and present, who have been integral to our success.”

One staff member, in particular, is fondly remembered during this anniversary celebration. Miriam McPhilibin, a valued team member who sadly passed away in April 2022, played an essential role in the O’Connor Dry Cleaners family. Declan and his team continue to cherish her memory and the impact she had on both colleagues and customers.

Beyond his business, Declan is a devoted family man. His wife, Tara, and their three children, Callum, Finn, and Hannah, have been his greatest supporters. Their encouragement and understanding have been instrumental in maintaining the strong work ethic that has defined O’Connor Dry Cleaners since its inception.

Throughout the years, O’Connor Dry Cleaners has adapted to the changing needs of its customers while maintaining the same level of professionalism and excellence. From same-day dry cleaning to wedding dress preservation, and duvet cleaning, every service is carried out on-site with meticulous attention to detail.

As the business moves forward, Declan remains committed to the principles that have brought him success: quality, reliability, and exceptional customer service. “It has been an incredible journey, and I look forward to many more years of serving this wonderful community. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our story—your support means the world to me and my family.”

O’Connor Dry Cleaners continues to operate with the same passion and dedication that started it all in 2000. Located in Tesco Shopping Centre, Knocknacarra, the business is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 7 pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 6 pm.
