The title of this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade is ‘Sea and Stone’ as a nod to Galway city’s stunning coastal surroundings and rich maritime heritage.

The parade will begin at 11.30am on Bank Holiday Monday from University Road, cross the Salmon Weir Bridge, turn onto Eglinton Street, pass Eyre Square, then go down Bóther na mBan, to finish at the Dyke Road car park. Road closures will be in place until 2pm.

Organisers say to expect colourful floats, creative costumes, and plenty of surprises as Galway celebrates the city’s deep connection to the Atlantic.

Trad music superstar Sharon Shannon will be the parade Grand Marshal, with Fiona Ní Chéirín compèring from Eyre Square.

Mayor of the City of Galway, Councillor Peter Keane, invited locals and visitors to attend the festivities.

“Galway is shaped by its connection to the Atlantic - from the crashing waves on our coast to the ancient stone walls that trace our history. ‘Sea and Stone’ reflects the heart of our city and its people, and we invite everyone to come celebrate our shared heritage,” said Keane.
