This March Bank Holiday, the Eye Cinema will celebrate two decades in operation with a special screening of a mystery film.

It was back on St Patrick’s Day 2005 when The Eye Cinema first opened its doors to a very excited Galway - eager to check out the newest cinema in town.

Since then, the modern picture house in Wellpark has hosted national film premieres, screened hundreds of mainstream and arthouse films, hosted live broadcasts, and always embraced the latest technologies to cater for the local community.

To mark its 20th birthday, the cinema’s staff have planned special activities, kicking off this Friday, March 14, at 8pm, with a ‘Mystery Screening’ of the very first film ever played at the EYE Cinema.

“Whether or not you remember what it was, you should tag along for some laughs. Tickets for this event are just €7 and include a small popcorn and a small drink on arrival,” say organisers.

In addition, Loyalty Club members will be treated to a 10 per cent discount on food from this Friday, to Monday, March 17, and on St Patrick’s Day all movie tickets will be priced only €8, with free popcorn for everyone in the audience.
