Field Trip are set to make a return to the Irish music scene this spring when they release their new album, Foreign Land, with a music video and live show to celebrate the occasion.
Field Trip is a garage/jangle-pop band from Galway city. They released a string of singles and EPs in the late 2010s which attracted crowds to gigs all over Ireland. Field Trip went on to play support slots for Irish indie bands of the time such as Silverbacks, The Clockworks, Squarehead, Oh Boland, and So Cow, before the band took an extended hiatus.
But now they are back, with a gig at the Mechanics Institute in Galway on Saturday, April 19 to celebrate the upcoming release of their new album.
Foreign Land was recorded by Field Trip in the summer of 2018. The songs harbour a nostalgia for a time long gone, where friends lived in each others' footsteps for the briefest of moments. The album features tracks from bygone gigs such as ‘Parnell Avenue’ and ‘I Get Down’, along with previously unheard tracks such as ‘Death at a Birthday Party’ and ‘Forget Those Eyes’.
In anticipation of the album release, Field Trip will premiere the music video for ‘I Get Down’ next Sunday, March 23. Starring Jack Niland and Lola, this short story of love and longing was directed and edited by Field Trip’s drummer, Paul Casserly, and the visuals perfectly match music itself.
