Traditional Irish folk and balladeers The Kilkennys, will perform at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, April 12, with doors opening at 10pm.

Formed in 1998 by a group of school friends, The Kilkennys are following in the footsteps of The Dubliners and The Clancy Brothers, as they bring energy to well-known traditional tunes.

Known for their contemporary take on classic songs, The Kilkennys built their reputation touring Ireland, before performing to audiences in Europe and America.

Over the years, they have shared the stage with some of Ireland’s most respected artists, including Shane MacGowan, Sharon Shannon and Finbar Furey.

Their hectic touring schedule saw them perform on the main stage at Milwaukee Irish Fest, the largest Irish festival in the world, where they were described as upholding the tradition and passion of folk with their live show.

Now based in the Southeast, the group features founding members Davey Cashin on vocals, mandolin, banjo, guitar, and whistle, Tommy Mackey on bass, acoustic guitar, and vocals, and Mick Martin on bodhrán, uilleann pipes, low whistles, guitar, and vocals.

Their discography includes the live album and DVD Meet The Kilkennys and their studio album, The Colour of Freedom, which features a mix of original songs and reimagined classics like 'Rocky Road to Dublin' and 'South Australia'.
