Galway Technical Institute College of Further Education has introduced the National Hairdressing Apprenticeship to Galway. This is a three-year programme combining learning in the workplace with learning in an education or training centre.
The National Hairdressing Apprenticeship programme is approved by QQI, SOLAS, the Further Education and Training Authority, and recognised by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. This apprenticeship is a dual system, a blended combination of on-the-job employer-based training and off-the-job training.
GTI welcomed the first apprentices in November 2024 to its state of the art facilities on Fr Griffin Road and is looking forward to the second intake of apprentices in autumn 2025.
