Galway Black Dragon kickboxer, Giulia Comini is heading for an All-Ireland final after victory in a four provinces 62 kilo match-up under K-1 rules at the Maldron Hotel in Tallaght.
Giulia, who represented Connacht, took on world bronze medallist and Five Nations Champion Vicki Ochala in the semi-final.
Ochala, who fights out of the well-regarded Fantoms MMA Gym in Dublin was the Leinster entry.
The fight started fast and furious with Comini anxious to get off to a good start. She led with a potent left jab and followed up with powerful straight right crosses and then knee strikes to Ochala's' mid section.
Ochala struggled with Comini's reach, and although she had her moments, she was outgunned on this occasion, and after three hard rounds, Comini was announced the winner.
Comini, who is a postdoctoral researcher in neuropharmacology at the University of Galway after completing her PhD last August, is currently engaged in research about the transplantation of stem cells and hydrogels for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
She now progresses through to the final of the four women event and will take on Rachel McIlhagga from Next Generation MMA in Derry for the All-Ireland final later in the year in Dublin.
Comini, who already has a TKO stoppage victory over McIlhagga, is looking forward to meeting her again over five rounds and has her eyes firmly fixed on the title.
