An Púcán, one of Galway city’s most beloved bars, has announced that its dedicated team has raised a fantastic €9,200 for the Galway Rape Crisis Centre (GRCC ) through a year-long fundraising effort. The GRCC was selected as the bar’s charity partner for 2024 by the staff, who organised a series of creative and engaging events to generate vital funds for the organisation.
Among the standout fundraising initiatives was a Premier League table quiz, which became the largest of its kind, drawing teams from across the province and beyond. With every available surface in An Púcán filled with eager competitors, the event proved to be a major success in both participation and fundraising.
Another key highlight was an online raffle for two All-Ireland football final tickets for the highly anticipated Galway vs Armagh clash. The raffle attracted widespread interest and significantly contributed to the overall total raised.
The An Púcán team also played a pivotal role in the inaugural Connacht Hospitality Group Apprentice Day, a new fundraising initiative within the hospitality group. As part of this event, the team created stunning bar-inspired artwork, which they successfully sold to boost their fundraising efforts further.

The Galway Rape Crisis Centre, which provides confidential support to survivors of sexual violence, expressed gratitude to An Púcán for their efforts. The funds raised will go directly towards ensuring the continuation of essential services, counselling, and advocacy work for those affected.
