Maree Oranmore FC is a testament to the profound impact of volunteerism and community belief. Maree Oranmore Football Club proudly announces the successful launch of its two new soccer pitches, which occurred less than 10 months after the success of the “Win A Home in Oranmore” fundraising initiative.
“We are thrilled to have played our first 9-a-side and 5-a-side games last weekend, marking a significant milestone for our club and the wider community,” said Niall McBride, Club Secretary.
“The newly developed facilities stand as a powerful testament to the strength of volunteerism, hard work, and dedication. On days like today, we remember our founding member Martin Horgan, who embodied everything that volunteerism stands for. His spirit and unwavering commitment inspire us as we celebrate this significant milestone for our club and the wider community,” he said.
Through the combined efforts of the fundraising committee, local partners, and incredible volunteers, Maree Oranmore Football Club have cultivated something that will leave a lasting legacy. The board, alongside key contributors like Paul McDermott and Anthony Conboy, provided invaluable guidance throughout the tendering process, expertly managing the entire development from initial plans to completion.
They are proud to acknowledge their successful tendering partner, McManamon Developments, whose exceptional work and partnership allowed them to complete this project on time and within budget, finishing one month ahead of schedule. Their commitment to excellence has been a cornerstone of the project’s success. Additionally, PST facilitated the pitch surface installation, which was outstanding, and the club members are delighted with the beautiful results.
The vision for this project, nurtured by Niall McBride and supported by Brian Carey, Philip Smith, Paul O’Flynn, Ruth Broderick, and the driving force Olivia Breene, together transformed a dream into reality—two new pitches now accompany our exemplary 4G pitch, fully funded thanks to these dedicated fundraising efforts. Mike Quirke and Fergus Kelleher from our development committee were also instrumental in this project.
Olivia Breene Co-Chair said that this new facility exemplifies how they can turn an idea into reality with the right people, approach, commitment, dedication, cause, and belief.
“We recognise that it takes a village to raise a family. At Maree Ornmore FC, our volunteers are family. Remember that this initiative also gave €80,000 to the Children’s Mental Health Charity, A Lust for Life”. What our volunteering committee and partners have done here goes far beyond football. And it has been amazing to be part of!”
Looking ahead, they eagerly anticipate welcoming teams to their new pitches, enhancing their capacity to support the evolving soccer community.
The new facilities, including a state-of-the-art 4G pitch, have been designed with community needs in mind, allowing for increased participation and enjoyment of the sport. They have maximized the area to benefit everyone and even included a new walkway to encourage active lifestyles.
“While we are experiencing an unprecedented season for games and pitch requirements, we look forward to celebrating our achievements with the Maree Ornmore community and beyond on July 21, 2025. We would be delighted to hear from you if you would like to volunteer or support Maree Oranmore FC,” she said.
