Galway Community College students raise €200 for Mental Health Charity

Galway Community College has raised €200 for Healthlink Mental Health, an accessible and affordable support service for those seeking mental health care. The drama, theatre, film and music students achieved this impressive feat by producing, promoting and performing in a show over four weeks, demonstrating their dedication to both the arts as well as social impact.

The production, Off Jumps Jack, is an adaptation of Brú Theatre’s Selvage by James Riordan. Audiences followed the journey of Joe Fanny, a character navigating anxiety and finding ways to regulate himself in an increasingly stressful world. With anxiety becoming an all-too-common experience in education and life in general, the GCC students saw this as the perfect opportunity to channel their creativity into raising awareness and support for mental health.

Following two sold-out performances at Druid’s Mick Lally Theatre last week, GCCFE’s Acting, Theatre and Performance and Event Management students were thrilled to donate the proceeds to Healthlink Mental Health.

Galway Community College extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed so generously. This achievement highlights the power of theatre not only to entertain but also to spark conversations and create positive change in our community.
