Galway's Stewart Construction has been shortlisted as a finalist under two categories in The Irish Construction Excellence Awards (ICE Awards ).
Under the Industrial category, Stewart’s work on the local Integer facility has been reognised and shortlisted. This project involved the construction and fit out of a new medical devices manufacturing facility on a green field site within the IDA Business and Technology Park, Parkmore East, for Integer, who are a leading medical device outsource (MDO ) manufacturer.
The project has a total gross internal floor area of 13,656 sq.m containing manufacturing floorspace and office space. The design team’s vision and design coupled with successful execution of the project delivered a world class facility for the client to bolster their manufacturing capabilities with a new R&D facility and Class 8 Cleanrooms. This landmark project represents a new dawn for Integer and significantly increases their presence and capabilities in Galway.
Under the Leisure/Tourism category, ‘NYX Hotel Dublin Portobello’ has been shortlisted. This design and build project involved the demolition of existing buildings at the site at Portobello Harbour, Dublin 8 and the construction of a 175-bedroom, seven-storey hotel.
Owned by Leonardo Hotels, NYX Hotels are unique, with a lot of association with the local community particularly around art and music and are advertised as ‘more than a place to stay, they’re a place to be’.
Leonardo Hotels (formerly Jurys Inn Hotel Group ) have a significant presence in the Irish hospitality market and this NYX hotel was the first of this brand to be delivered in Ireland.
The Irish Construction Excellence Awards (ICE Awards ) provide an opportunity for the industry to showcase and reward best practice across the full range of construction disciplines and project categories.
The winning projects will be announced at the ICE Awards 2025 Gala Event at the Convention Centre Dublin on Thursday May 1.
