The University of Galway’s Time Lord Society is holding its first ever Film Festival on Friday, February 28, at 7pm, in the IMC Cinema on the Headford Road.
The event will aim to raise funds for the Galway Rape Crisis Centre, with charity badges sold at the event.
Time Lord is an 11-year-old Doctor Who-centred student society, which has been producing fan films made by its members since 2022. Last year's film won best society film at the University of Galway’s Society Awards.
According to the society’s current auditor, Aoife Joyce “This is the event for you if you are a Dr Who fan, or just love new, original, fun film making, and all for a good cause, we extend our invitation to the city and hope you will join us for an evening of entertainment”.
This year sees the premiere of not one, but three films on the big screen.
The first is called Far From It directed by Dean McDevitt, his third film project with the society. The second and third films, Times Up and Chaos Awakening mark the directorial debut of Aoife Joyce.
These films have all been made possible by the members of the society volunteering their time and energy.
