The Killannin men’s team and the Oughterard ladies will take part in the Lidl Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé 2025, which will take place from Friday, February 21 to Sunday, February 23.

Killannin will play in the intermediate men’s cup which is a four-team straight knockout. Their first game is against St. Croan’s of Roscommon and if they win, they will play either Offaly’s Bracknagh or Galbally of Limerick. Galbally won last year’s junior cup.

Oughterard are competing in the six-team intermediate ladies cup and are up against Belturbet-Redhills of Cavan and Clounmacon/Moyvane of Kerry in their round robin group. Should they progress from there, they will play the final against either St. Maurs of Dublin, Tipperary’s Templemore or Kerry’s Corca Dhuibhne.

Fourteen counties from the four provinces of Ireland will take part in the 36th edition of the Lidl Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé, with 28 adult men’s and ladies club teams coming for a weekend of competitive football and social events including popular Irish band Super Céilí at Páidí Ó Sé’s pub in Ventry, West Kerry.

The football festival, which was founded by eight-time All-Ireland winner Páidí Ó Sé, is supported by Lidl Ireland, EJ Menswear, Kerry County Council Tourism Unit, Medel Healthcare, Dooctor.ie, Fáilte Ireland and Údarás na Gaeltachta, and has attracted over 30,000 club players since it was founded in 1989.

Comórtas Chairman, Pádraig Óg Ó Sé said that spectators can expect “great competitive football matches over the weekend”.

“We welcome the Galway teams once again to West Kerry for the Comórtas. About 500 players and also mentors and supporters are in full planning mode to kick off their season with a weekend away and we are ready with social events and craic around Comórtas HQ – Páidí Ó Sé’s pub,” he added.
