University of Galway Students’ Union launched their raise and give (RAG ) week campaign. The events will all be taking place on the University of Galway campus Sunday, February 9 to Friday, February 14, to raise funds for Galway Rape Crisis Centre and Galway Autism Partnership. Fundraising events over the week will include a fire walk, a head shave, a charity auction, a 5km fun run, a Galentine’s day brunch, a five-a-side tournament and pop-up charity clothes and book shops.
The fire walk will involve students and staff braving an exhilarating walk across hot coals in the spectacular setting of the Quadrangle on Monday, February 10. The charity auction will see 15 amazing auction items going under the hammer to raise as much funds for charity as possible.
Students’ Union President, Faye Ní Dhomhnaill, said: “We are delighted to be bringing the craic back to campus again this February with our RAG week events. These events are a great chance for our whole campus community to come together and have some fun whilst also raising much needed funds for our nominated charities. We would encourage all students and staff to get involved in the events over the week.”
Students’ Union Vice President/Welfare and Equality Officer, Chloe Anderson, added: “We would like to thank the university for giving us this opportunity to again bring RAG week back to its roots of fun and fundraising on campus. Last year was such a success showing that RAG week is a fantastic opportunity to try new things, make new friends and volunteer for great causes.”
