Given the title of 'Galway’s Alt Folk Queen', Reylta will compete with other Eurovision hopefuls to represent Ireland at this year's show.

Ireland’s special The Late Late Show episode, Eurosong, will take place tomorrow evening, serving as the country’s pre-selection for the 2025 Eurovision song contest. Local folk singer-songwriter Reylta has been revealed as one of the six contestants with the chance to compete in this year’s Eurovision, which takes place in Basel, Switzerland this upcoming May.

Reylta, whose real name is Caoimhe Glynn, is a captivating, ethereal musician whose music is rooted deeply in traditional Irish culture. Hailing from Ballinlass, Dunmore, she takes inspiration from artists such as Florence and the Machine and fellow Irish Artist Hozier. She has a deep connection with Irish music, poetry and storytelling.

The BIMM graduate has been performing with an eight-piece band since 2017, and released her first single ‘Fools Games’ in 2019. Her critically acclaimed album “Everything Unsaved Will Be Lost” was released in October 2023.

Reylta describes her competing track, ‘Fire’, as a “magic song”. The three-minute strong track has a folkloric, otherworldly instrumental with entrancing, poetic lyrics and enthralling vocals.

It describes the feeling of instant chemistry, and the passion of falling in love regardless of the outcome. The song’s angelic string arrangements and evocative harmonies leave the listener with a mystical, ethereal experience.

“Galway’s Art Folk Queen”, as described by the Irish Independent, will compete alongside other contestants Bobbi Arlo, Adgy, Samantha Mumba, EMMY and NIYL tomorrow evening at 9:35pm on RTE One. You can listen to her song by visiting www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrh9DMLkOdE
