What does your company produce, and have you a mission statement outside of this?

At Boston Scientific, we're dedicated to transforming lives with our innovative medical solutions that make a real difference in patients' health worldwide.

In our Galway plant, we produce a variety of products which improve heart, blood vessel and digestive system health.

Our company culture is something we truly value, built on core values like caring, meaningful innovation, high performance, global collaboration, diversity and a winning spirit. These values are the foundations behind everything we do at Boston Scientific.

Areas where there are employment opportunities with your company:

Boston Scientific offers exciting career opportunities in various fields including research and development, manufacturing and software engineering, EHS, supply chain, quality, project management, supplier engineering and many more across our three Ireland locations of Galway, Cork and Clonmel.

At Boston Scientific, we’re always on the lookout for top talent to join our team.

What is the best thing about working at your company?

There's a great sense of fulfilment in going to work every day knowing what we do truly makes a life-saving difference for our patients.

The products we make in Galway are crucial in helping clinicians treat 37 million patients around the world each year.

It really hits home when we hear personal recovery stories from individual patients.

Over the years, we’ve heard incredible stories of Galway employees who built devices that ended up saving the lives of their loved ones or even fellow colleagues, a powerful reminder of the importance of the work delivered here onsite.

What other benefits do employees have?

We offer a broad range of benefit offerings that are designed to help you be your best self.

These include a competitive compensation package, health and wellness programs, on-site gym and career development opportunities, including comprehensive leadership development and Further Education programmes with third-level institutions.

How do you contribute to the local community?

Every two years, we make a significant impact by partnering with a Galway-based charity group.

Our latest partnership with the Galway Simon Community saw our employees raise over €300,000, making a real difference for those in need of their services.

We also have a long-standing partnership with the Galway Hospice, with employee contributions for the latter surpassing €1.5 million in 2024 since the beginning of the partnership in 1996.

Has your company won any awards?

Last year, we at Boston Scientific Galway were incredibly proud to win the overall large Company of the Year KeepWell award presented by IBEC.

This award recognised our efforts in promoting wellness in the workplace. At Boston Scientific, we're dedicated to deeply integrating wellness into our culture.

This award wasn't just a recognition of the programs, facilities, and benefits we have in place, but also a call to keep improving our efforts. We want to ensure we continue to meet the ongoing needs of our employees.

What attributes for job applicants are most important to your company?

We're looking for passionate and ambitious individuals who are innovative, collaborative and committed to improving patient health.

We highly value strong communication skills, critical thinking, emotional intelligence and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Additionally, strengths in stakeholder management and problem-solving are essential.

What advice would you give your 21-year-old self?

Don’t pursue titles, seek fulfilment. In the end, the titles you hold won't matter as much as the satisfaction you derive from your work.

Spend your time pursuing roles that resonate deeply with your sense of purpose and personal values. Seek out opportunities that challenge and excite you, that make you feel connected to something larger than yourself.

This way, you'll not only find fulfilment but also make a meaningful impact in your professional journey.
