The organisers of the Classic Fest Vintage and Classic Show that took place in Galway Racecourse in June have recently made their presentations to their chosen charities, with a total of €15,195 being handed over to these worthy causes.
This one-day event, which attracts vintage and classic vehicle lovers from right across the 32 counties, was a great success this year. Blessed with fine weather, the exhibits packed Galway Racecourse from early morning and the public followed suit to enjoy a great family-orientated day out.
Classic Fest is organised by Irish Vintage Scene magazine, which is based in Oranmore and owned by Tom Heavey, who said they were delighted with the support they received for Classic Fest this year, and even more delighted to be able to support some very needy charities. Already we are planning and looking forward to the 2025 show, which will take place on Sunday the 8th of June.”
The main charity to benefit from this year’s Classic Fest was BUMBLEance, the children’s ambulance service, who attended the event to demonstrate one of their ambulances.
At the recent presentation night in Glynn’s Bar in Oranmore, a cheque for €13,695 was handed over to Ian Fallon from BUMBLEance, who said the team is extraordinarily thankful for the support from Classic Fest.
“Our national services are powered exclusively by funds raised, so it’s generosity like this that ensures we can continue making a difference in the lives of Ireland’s youngest patients,” he said.
Three local charities also benefited from the event, which were Claddagh Watch, Blood Bike West and Oranmore Civil Defence, all of whom received a cheque for €500 each.
Although only in its third year, Classic Fest has already donated over €33,000 to charity and looks forward to supporting worthy charities going forward. Organiser Tom Heavey said: “It’s great to be able to give back something to those in need, and we are delighted to be able to support charities that are doing great work both locally and nationally.”
Classic Fest 2025 will take place on Sunday June 8 at Galway Racecourse and is sure to be even bigger than previous years. For more details closer to the time, keep an eye on local media or www.irishvintagescene.ie and their social media channels.
