A three-day anime and manga convention will be held at the University of Galway next month.
From Friday, February 14, to Sunday February 16, Akumakon will celebrate Japanese culture through anime, manga, gaming, cosplay, and more.
This year, Akumakon will introduce a host of new attractions, enhanced programming, and a deeper commitment to giving back to the local community.
In partnership with the Galway Hospice Foundation, the student-run convention will support the charity’s vital work through fundraising initiatives throughout the weekend. The partnership with Galway Hospice Foundation aligns perfectly with the convention’s values and offers attendees a chance to make a difference while enjoying their favourite aspects of pop culture.
“Conventions like Akumakon are about more than just fandom – they are about community. We are thrilled to support the Galway Hospice Foundation this year, and we encourage our attendees to join us in this meaningful partnership,” said Rachel Howarth, Con Director for Akumakon 2025.
Events will include a cosplay photography studio, an expanded trade hall and artist alley, and a space for younger attendees.
Alongside these new features, Akumakon 2025 will include a variety of panels, exciting competitions, vendors, and opportunities to connect with fellow fans in a fun and inclusive environment.
