Traditional security measures are popular too, with 48% of homes equipped with deadbolt locks and 38% with burglar alarms. However, Galway lags in other areas, with just 1% owning guard dogs and 15% using security gates or safes.
Dundalk is the most safety-conscious city in Ireland when it comes to protecting homes from burglaries.
A significant 77% of residents have installed window locks, the highest percentage among the ranked cities. Additionally, Dundalk leads in other security measures, with the most residents owning guard dogs (8% ) and safes (27% ).
Dublin ranks second when it comes to home security. 70% of residents have installed burglar alarm systems, the highest among the cities surveyed. Additionally, 69% have fitted deadbolt locks, and 77% have window locks.
Waterford also stands out for its commitment to home security. 54% of residents have installed burglar alarm systems, and 55%have fitted deadbolt locks to enhance their property’s protection. Additionally, 65% have secured their windows with locks, further boosting safety. When it comes to surveillance, 49% of homeowners have installed motion-sensor lights, helping to deter potential burglars and increase security around their homes.
