Water supply was restored to the Old Dublin Road area of Galway City yesterday (Wednesday ) morning after Uisce Éireann successfully completed overnight repairs to a large water main in the area.
The overnight works, which were necessary to repair a significant burst on the network near Woodhaven Lodge, caused a water supply disruption to approximately 2,000 homes and businesses in the area on Tuesday night.
Works began at 11pm Tuesday and were completed in the early hours of yesterday. Crews working on behalf of Uisce Éireann remained on site to ensure that supply had returned to normal levels for all affected customers.
Leo O’Shea of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their cooperation while these essential works were being carried out.
“Uisce Éireann acknowledges the disruption that can be caused by a planned outage such as this one and we wish to thank customers in the area for their patience while these essential works were underway,” said Leo.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to?customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
