The Galway Tour Guides Association elected its new board for the coming year at its recent AGM.
The well attended meeting, held in the Menlo Park Hotel last week, saw Jim Ward of Galway Trails elected chairperson for the coming year. Other officers elected at the event were James Walsh (Galway Poetry Tours ) as secretary; Gabrielle Campbell as treasurer/membership officer; Laura Marino-Finan (LaMarino Tours ) as social media officer; and Ger Considine (Western Tours & Tales ) was also elected to the committee.
The meeting discussed the successful past tourist season, the global popularity of Galway as a destination, and the new chair outlined his plans for the coming year, including a local voucher scheme for guides and proposals to mark World Tourist Guide Day on February 21.
