Monroe’s Live will celebrate the best of Irish rock this weekend with two nights dedicated to the creativity, talent and spirit that defined a generation of music.
This Friday, January 10, the ‘When Ireland Rocked’ event takes centre stage in a celebration of the transformative years of Irish rock music from 1973 to 1987.
This period saw the rise of legendary artists like Horslips, Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, The Undertones, and U2, who helped shape a distinct Irish rock identity.
The event features renowned guitarist Pat McManus, co-founder of Mama’s Boys, who rose from humble beginnings in Fermanagh to international fame.
Joining him is Cormac Neeson, lead vocalist of The Answer, along with a talented line-up of musicians paying homage to the era’s ground-breaking artists.
Doors open at 8pm, and tickets are available for €25 from www.monroes.ie
Phil Lynott
The weekend continues on Saturday, January 11, with the annual Phil Lynott Remembrance Night.
Remembering Lizzy will perform from 9pm to honour the life and legacy of Thin Lizzy’s charismatic frontman.
Known for hits like ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’, ‘Jailbreak’, and ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’, Phil Lynott broke barriers and became a trailblazer in the rock music scene.
His songwriting, infused with personal stories and raw emotion, remains influential nearly four decades after his passing.
Remembering Lizzy offers an authentic and heartfelt tribute, performing both Thin Lizzy classics and selections from Lynott’s solo career.
Tickets for Saturday night’s event are €12 from www.monroes.ie
