Get cosy in 2025 as interiors move towards luxe and homely vibes

EZ Living Furniture’s interior’s expert, Ola Jordan, shares her expert insights around what colours, fabrics and looks are going to wow in 2025.

“As we welcome the new year, we are set to embrace all that we love about snug homes, from warm hues to opulent materials, luxe and a pop of colour to lift," she says. "Homes that reflect comfort and appear to be lived-in are what you should aim to reflect in your 2025 decor. Here are my insider tips for bringing your home bang up to date."

Colours

Burgundy: This rich colour is certainly an unexpected trend for 2025. Evoking feelings of opulence and cosiness, burgundy is a powerful shade which is perfect for smaller home accessories.

Royal blue: Expect this vibrant shade of blue to be a big hit in 2025, with its deep blue tone reflecting luxuriousness and Old-World design. Royal blue (also known as cobalt blue ) is the colour of empathy and dependability and when you are in its presence, you’ll experience feelings of reassurance and calmness.

Cool sage: In 2025, we’re turning away from the standard sage tones of previous years and embracing a new variant - cool sage (or mint ). It is a shade that it is used to relax, balance, revitalise and encourage. As it gives a restful and secure feeling, it would be perfect colour for a bedroom refresh.

Deep violet: Purple will be ‘having a moment’ in 2025. Having been given a serious upgrade, new year’s purple features blue and red undertones to create a shade that feels both classic and contemporary. This colour has a strong association with royalty, quality, and luxury, and it inspires creativity.

Truffle brown: This luxe, deep muddy colour with a taupe base emits a lighter and more positive effect than traditional dark brown. It is more comforting in nature and yet still manages to reflect a moody and luxurious look. Brown is the new black and if you like keeping up with interior trends, it’s time to jump on board.

Mocha brown: This colour is staying on-trend for 2025 as this light brown shade with peachy pink undertones is one of those colours that can be paired with pretty much anything. It’s an incredibly blendable colour and would make a great visual addition to any interior space.

Our Avanti rug features the exact shade of brown you should hope to incorporate into your interior next year. This rug also boasts a striking pattern using various neutral tones, making it easy to place anywhere in the home.

Furniture

Modular sofas: 2025 is all about being able to customise your sofa, without the need to brush up on your sewing skills. Next year, sofas will need to be more flexible than ever, so think modular sofas, sofa beds, or any couch that can be altered to fit your specific needs and living space.

Velvet sofas: Velvet sofas are making a huge comeback in 2025. Velvet has historically been seen as a luxurious material and it still maintains that image today. It is very easy to clean, and dust can simply be removed using a lint roller. One that stands out from the rest is the Katie sofa — upholstered in gorgeous teal velvet, it is sure to make a statement in whichever room its placed in.

Bold-coloured sofas: Maximalism is back but not in the way you might be accustomed to from past trends. The bigger and bolder for 2025 the better, especially when it comes to sofas, but that’s where it ends. Everywhere else should be muted to accentuate your daring couch choice. Honestly, I’m glad to see a bit of colour returning to our homes, it’s a great change from the neutral palettes that have dominated over the last few years.

Plush sofas: Plush but stylish sofas are set to be huge in 2025. We’re prioritising comfort above everything else, so remember this when introducing a new seating arrangement to your home over the New Year.

Curved sofas: We’re embracing curves in 2025. It’s all about rounded edges and non-standard shapes. Biophilic design, Japandi, and Wabi-Sabi are just three interior design styles that embrace natural shapes and have been around for many years now. It seems we can’t get enough of this unusual-shaped decor and from the looks of it, it will impact our sofa design choices too, so really, it’s a safe investment.

Our top curved sofa pick is the Diane sofa. Diane is everything you need and more for next year. It is upholstered in a bold-yet-warming textured fabric for incredible luxury and features a rounded back and chaise, as well as curved arm rests and cushions to create the ultimate statement piece.

Dining room

Introduce bold colours: Probably the most surprising dining trend on the list is this one. Over the last few years, we’ve become used to neutral tones and barely warm shades, but if you want to embrace all the dining trends of 2025, you better get used to bold shades because they’re set to be big. Dining room colour trends for next year feature a combination of rich hues like deep blue, emerald green, and burgundy.

Bedroom trends

Character-filled walls: “Originally, blank white walls were embraced fully in the bedroom as they produced a clean and almost luxurious aesthetic. But for the last number of years, I’m one of many interior experts that has been preaching about neutrals, biophilic design, and minimalism in home design.

"Now though, that all looks set to change. In 2025, we want more character from our bedroom decor which means turning to the dark side. Deeper, character-filled shades such as burgundy, royal blue, deep violet, and truffle brown are all set to be popular in 2025.”
