The Galway Folk Festival has earned its place among the top ten Irish festivals of 2024, and early bird tickets are now on sale for the 2025 event, taking place from Wednesday, June 4th to Sunday, June 8th.
The 2024 festival showcased an impressive lineup of over 50 world-renowned and emerging artists, drawing music lovers from near and far to the heart of Galway.
This vibrant celebration of folk music transformed the city into a haven for roots, traditional song, and contemporary sounds.
Performances took place across multiple stages and venues. Among the standout acts were award-winning singer-songwriter Declan O’Rourke, contemporary folk trio Amble, and Scottish stars Ímar and Talisk.
Irish icons Eleanor Shanley, Mike Hanrahan, Seán Keane, Sharon Shannon, and many others added to the stellar lineup, bringing their rich musical traditions to life.
In its third year, the festival expanded its offering with an even greater emphasis on free, family-friendly events.
The Market Stage and Tavern Stage, in association with Cuppa Tea TV, became hubs of activity, showcasing local and international talent in an accessible and welcoming atmosphere.
The Galway Folk Festival was selected for the coveted top-ten spot by The Irish Times in their prestigious end of year review, coming in at No.6 ahead of Electric Picnic in Co. Laois and Night and Day in Co. Roscommon.
"With 72 acts and 250 musicians involved in 2024, we are genuinely delighted with the response and the recognition," says festival director, Gary Monroe.
"We are so grateful to everyone who attended from across Ireland and beyond and I am indebted to the entire team and volunteers who made this happen"
