Monroe’s Live hosts an incredible line-up of rocking Irish trad for the final weekend of 2024, featuring performances from Trasna, megaTRAD, and Furry Village.
From the heartfelt acoustic folk of Trasna and the high energy of megaTRAD to the welcome return of the legendary Furry Village, this is a weekend to celebrate the best of innovative home-grown talent.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday, December 28, with a fully seated performance by acclaimed folk duo Trasna at 9pm. Ger O’Donnell from Clare and Newcastle West’s Trevor Sexton have captured a strong following with their warm playing style, mixing traditional Irish music with contemporary acoustic folk.
This year saw the release of Trasna’s nine-track album 'Lullabies' and 'Fairytales', featuring standout tracks such as 'Fairytale', 'Parcel of Rogues', and 'Lullaby'. Building on the success of their earlier album, The Alchemist’s Stone, the duo continues to redefine folk traditions.
Following Trasna’s performance, ticket holders will be treated to a late-night show by the trio act, megaTRAD from 11pm. Quickly gaining recognition for their genre-defying sound, their music has been affectionately dubbed ‘Tradscendental’ by fans.
Comprising the O'Dálaigh brothers, Cillian and Seán, alongside mandolin virtuoso Denis McAuliffe, megaTRAD draws on their East Clare roots to create a powerful, energetic experience that celebrates Irish music, song, and dance.
Tickets for this double bill are €20 and include both performances.
An energetic performance is planned for the last Sunday of 2024
On Sunday, December 29, doors open at 10pm for the much-anticipated return of electric trad legends Furry Village. Emerging from Galway in the mid-1990s, Furry Village pioneered a unique fusion of traditional Irish melodies and rock, led by Gerard Fahy.
