Moth & Butterfly stories for New Year

The Moth and Butterfly International Festival of Storytelling and Improvisation will run from Monday, January 30, to February 2, 2025, throughout Galway.

The festival will feature a wide variety of offerings in the art forms of storytelling and improvisation, including evening programmes, bi-lingual stories for families, story trails, online panels, and masterclass workshops for storytellers.

Highlights include: Mangoes On The Beach, a storytelling theatre show with Peter Chand, weaving traditional Indian myth stories into the true story of his parents' journey as immigrants.

Crocodile Paws is an improvisational theatre duo from Helsinki. With a single word, they will weave a spontaneous world of character, comedy, and truth.

Two Tales of Thomas The Rhymer, in association with Arts In Action, features storyteller Daniel Serridge who will give the old tale his unique spin.

Artistic Director, Órla Mc Govern, said: “The theme ‘Horizons’ has summoned some great energy with the artists. I am looking forward to how the audiences will engage with the events, as storytelling and improvisation are such dynamic art forms.

"From the audio story trail in Galway’s west-end pubs to The Feast of Fools in Athenry, the thirst for stories should be nicely quenched!"
