The singers of KaRoSal are offering city centre Christmas shoppers a free lunchtime show this weekend to punctuate the madness of the seasonal rush.
A vocal harmony trio from Galway, KaRoSal’s free concert will take place in Galway City Museum this Saturday, December 21, from 1.30pm for one hour.
KaRoSal is Kara Donohoe, Róna O’Riordan, and Sarah Toomey. The trio will perform songs from the folk, gospel and Americana traditions, both a cappella and with acoustic guitar accompaniment, including their versions of Crosby, Still & Nash’s ‘Helplessly Hoping’, Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Gold Dust Woman’ and Ed Sheerin’s ‘I See Fire’, as well as an a capella Christmas song.
KaRoSal originally met in The Galway Gospel Choir and at various singing sessions around the city. Discovering how well their voices worked together, the three singers joined forces in 2018.
Last year they released their debut EP, Songs In 3-Part Harmony, which included renditions of numbers by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Paul Simon, as well as an original track, ‘Tears of Stone’, by Moycullen songwriter Seán McGrath.
KaRoSal have played shows in the Galway Fringe Festival, Dunmore Annual Festival, Monroe’s Live and The Loft, and been featured on Irish community radio in Canada.
