A busy Christmas period of racing across Galway lies ahead as the winter road racing season kicks off soon.
The Goal Mile takes place in two locations in the city on Christmas Day – in Doughiska Community Garden at 11am and in Dangan, at the University Sports Grounds, on the track anytime between 10am and 12pm. Donations to Goal can be taken on the day or in advance on idonate web page.
Athenry AC host its famed Fields of Athenry 10k event, on December 26, St Stephen's Day at 11am. Race HQ is at the old Presentation School in the town, and a bumper field of over 1,500 runners is expected. The event is always a sell out and attracts a very high-quality field.
2025 Campion Insurance 5k Resolution Run
Galway City Harriers in conjunction with Campion Insurance have organised the annual 5k Resolution Run.
The race will take place on January 1, 2025. Race HQ is the Claddagh Hall, Nimmo's Pier and the race starts promptly at 10.15am. The race is AAI certified and is open to everyone 16 years and older.
The 5km race route passes through the city centre, from The Claddagh, passing Wolfe Tone Bridge, Merchants Road and the Docks, doubling back out to Grattan Road and The Salthill Promenade before a fast finish along South Park into the finish at Nimmo’s Pier.
Age category prizes are available and every entrant will receive a souvenir Resolution Run beanie.
