Galway City Council has announced the events line-up of New Year’s Eve Family Festive Féile that features live music, street performances and the iconic countdown.
On December 31 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm Cross Street and St Nicholas Collegiate Church will feature fun activities for all ages, as well as a special countdown at 8:00pm.
The event is designed for families, particularly with younger children and is part of Galway City Council’s Night-Time Economy initiative. Galway’s restaurants, bars and cafes will be open as well as the Christmas Market which will be open until 8:00pm. The Bash Brothers Drumming Band will also be roaming the streets adding to the festive spirit.
St. Nicholas Collegiate Church will feature events such as Screaming Blue Cats, a trio whose music is sure to bring you back to the fifties and John Conneely, performing swing jazz and the blues.
Cross Street will host performances by the GIRO Galway International Retro Orchestra who have been thriving since 2011, The Barbara Vulso Quartet who bring a combination of soul, jazz, funk and R&B, and Vixen and the Cool Cats who combine musicianship, theatricality, and pure showmanship.
Galway City Council chief executive Leonard Cleary said the Family Festive Féile is part of Galway City Council’s ongoing efforts to enhance Galway’s thriving and diverse night-time economy.
“This event showcases the city’s commitment to providing safe and enjoyable experiences for people of all ages, and we’re delighted to welcome visitors and families to celebrate this special moment,” he said.
