The late Gerry Mulholland is being honoured with the release of his single Japanese Tokyo Skyline. All proceeds will be going towards Galway Simon Community in aid of the homeless.
Gerry was known not only for his musical career but also his profound kindness and constantly fighting for those in need. He worked in Calcutta where he developed a school for street children which transformed their lives, giving them education, hope and a brighter future. His music and actions shared a common thread - deep empathy for others and a drive to create change.
His new single Japanese Tokyo Skyline is inspired by his traveling in the 90’s and reflects on the same generosity and thoughtfulness that defined his life. Gerry’s niece Aoife Mulholland performs the vocals on this single which was recorded with help from Carl Hession and Eugene Killeen.
Aoife says, “Gerry’s passion for helping others was as much a part of him as his music. He believed in the power of community, and he showed it in everything he did. Releasing Japanese Tokyo Skyline is our way of continuing his mission to make the world a better place.
“Gerry used to play this song to us when we were children and for some reason Japanese Tokyo Skyline left a deep impression on me. Not only for its beautiful melody and lyrics but for the underlying theme, that no matter where we are, we all want the same things: a place to call home, a sense of belonging, and connection.”
Proceeds from the song will support Galway Simon Community in their mission to provide housing and support for those affected by homelessness across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
