With the winter here and the cooler months now upon us, Galway company, West Coast Insulation is recommending that homeowners take advantage of the current grant scheme for home insulation.
A well insulated home will retain more heat during the cooler months, leading to lower heating bills. The current insulation grant scheme allows for a grant of up to €3,250 for cavity wall and attic insulation. Homeowners can contact John Folan, from West Coast Insulation for a free quotation for cavity wall and attic insulation. The scheme to install upgraded insulation has increased the amounts involved to €3,250 (detached houses ), €2,550 (semi-detached ), €2,050 for mid-terrace and €1,550 for apartments. This usually covers a large percentage of the overall cost of the work and the works can usually be completed in one working day.
West Coast Insulation will help homeowners with the grant forms and make the process as simple as possible. The current package delivered by West Coast Insulation and suppliers Kingspan Eco-Bead, makes insulation homes more attractive than ever. With energy costs rising and set to rise further, it is likely that the cost of re-insulating your home is likely to pay for itself over the next few years. As a result, homeowners can enjoy a warmer, more comfortable temperature in their homes for longer while
The process
When insulating a house, West Coast Insulation injects EcoBead 'platinum bonded bead' in the cavity walls - even when there is existing Aerobord insulation. This significantly improves the u-values and heat retention, as well as filling in any gaps in the older insulation. West Coast Insulation's team of highly trained staff purposefully position the injection holes closer together, this ensures that walls are 100 per cent filled and that the bead is packed as tightly as possible. Following the injection, the technician then installs Knauf 'rolled mineral wool' in the attic of the property.
"Most attics have some existing fibreglass insulation at around 100mm depth. The problem with fibreglass is that it shrinks over time and need to be replaced. We install Knauf attic insulation to 300mm giving the best u-values possible," explained John Folan of West Coast Insulation, adding, "We also fit the insulating jackets and lids around the tanks, fit the heavy duty 19mm lagging on the pipes and insulate the attic door."
