Galway City Council has launched a ‘Galway City Parking’ app and online payment solution, making it faster and easier for residents, commuters and visitors to pay for parking in Galway city.

Motorists can pay for on-street parking and Galway City Council car parks from the comfort of the driver’s seat using the free ‘Galway City Parking’ app or at www.GalwayCityParking.ie

Motorists in Galway city now have a choice of payment options, including Pay by App – download the ‘Galway City Parking’ app from your usual app store and pay by debit or credit card; Pay Online – pay by debit or credit card on GalwayCityParking.ie; Pay by Phone – call 0818 300 161; Payzone Retail Outlets – pay with cash or card in 34 retail outlets in Galway city; and Pay and Display Machines – pay with cash in the 90 on-street P&D machines.

There is no charge for paying for parking on the Galway City Parking app or at GalwayCityParking.ie Parking charges remain the same.

Patrick Greene, Director of Services for Galway City Council, said that the introduction of online and app payment makes it easier for motorists to pay for parking in Galway city.

"The move also reduces costs associated with cash collection and equipment maintenance, delivering greater efficiencies to the local authority. Cash will still be accepted in 34 Payzone retail outlets in the city and at the 90 Pay and Display machines as one of a range of options for paying for parking.

"The introduction of the app and online parking payments is part of our Connecting Government 2030 programme to provide more services online to the public.”

The Galway City Parking app and www.GalwayCityParking.ie is operated in partnership with ParkMagic and Payzone.

Speaking about the launch, Kealan Fitzgerald, ParkMagic Product Manager at Payzone Ireland, expressed his enthusiasm about the new location.

"We are thrilled to partner with Galway City Council to bring our cashless parking solution to the area. Our goal is to make parking as convenient and efficient as possible. At Payzone, our goal is to make every day easier.”

Customers can pay for parking on a one-off basis or as an account holder. Customer Support will be available on 0818 300 161 or at [email protected] for any users having issues with payment or the app. Further information and FAQs can be found at www.GalwayCityParking.ie
