The cast of Grease all set for their performances next week.

Galway Community College (GCC ) is abuzz with excitement as students and staff prepare for their production of Grease: The Musical, the school’s first musical in nearly two decades. The performance, taking place in GCC’s recently upgraded 200-seater theatre, marks a triumphant return of musical culture to the school.

Music teacher Ciara Walshe leads the project, describing the process as an “eye-opener” and praising the students’ talent and dedication. Supported by an enthusiastic team of teachers, including assistant director Shannon Higgins, choreographer Claire Quinn, costume coordinator Sheila Mitchell and set designer Cathal Noone, the production showcases the collaborative spirit of GCC. From sewing costumes to building vibrant sets, teachers and students work tirelessly to bring the show to life.

The cast features over 20 main roles, 30 chorus members, and 50 Transition Year students assisting behind the scenes. Rehearsals highlight the students’ commitment, with newcomers and longtime students alike thriving in the school’s inclusive and nurturing environment. For many, the production is more than just a performance; it’s a celebration of creativity, teamwork, and self-expression.

As students harmonize around the piano or take the stage for Rydell High Alma Mater, their pride and enthusiasm are palpable, ensuring this milestone production will be a memorable achievement for all involved.

So, we heartily invite you to join us for our public showing- this will take place on Wednesday December 4 at 7pm (Doors 6.30pm ).
