Monroe’s Live proudly celebrated the 11th birthday of its iconic Wednesday Latino Night yesterday, November 20, marking over a decade of vibrant Latin music, dance, and community in Galway.
This weekly event has become a cornerstone of the city’s nightlife, bringing together people from all over the world, for an unforgettable midweek fiesta.
Running successfully for the last 11 years, Wednesday Latino continues to draw a full house with its energetic atmosphere and stellar line-up.
This widely popular night begins at 9pm, when the doors open to the sound of classic Latin vibes.
At 10.30pm La Orquesta Kalamares takes the stage, featuring the captivating voice of Barbara Vulso, Éanna Ryder’s piano groove, and Alan Preims’ rhythmic percussion.
“We started 11 years ago in the tavern, and the night has become so popular that we had to move it upstairs,” explains Barbara.
“Coming to this night will make people understand why Galway is such a special place, and the reasons why so many people from all over the world decide to make Galway their home. It’s a wonderful melting pot. Everyone feels welcomed, while being part of one of the best nights in the country.”
Their live set is followed at 11.45pm by DJ Matt KV, who keeps the dance floor alive until 2am with a mix of Reggaeton, Brazilian funk, and the freshest Latin hits.
Featuring Kizomba and Bachata classes from Galway Latin Dance, this is a true celebration of music and culture.
The dancers also provide special performances throughout the night, adding to the warm and welcoming environment.
As part of their birthday celebrations, the resident band were joined by US rapper and trombonist, Kadesh Flow.
“Wednesday Latino has become a special part of Galway’s nightlife, and it’s amazing to see how it has brought so many people together over the years,” says Gary Monroe. “It’s a privilege to host such a vibrant event week after week.”
