Maigh Cuilinn is to get its long awaited bus shelter with work due to start on the project from next week, according to local councillor and Independent Ireland candidate for Galway West, Noel Thomas. He said that he had spoken directly to the contractor who had confirmed that they would be onsite.
“I am delighted to announce that the work on the bus shelter for Maigh Cuilinn will start next week,” he said. “I have been working on this for a long time and it has proved challenging, but I am delighted it will finally come to fruition.
“Both myself and former Councillor, Alastair McInstry, had made our notice of motion money available for the bus shelter during the period of the previous council term as we were both agreed that this was a vital piece of infrastructure for Maigh Cuilinn’s growing population and as a necessary part of the public transport requirements of the general area.
“I am delighted that the National Transport Authority have made the decision now to progress with the work. One stop will be beside the book shop and the other one will be across the road beside that Garda station,” he said.
