All are invited to the Tree of Lights Celebration on Sunday December 1 at 5pm, on the grounds of Galway Hospice.
This is a magical evening where people can remember and celebrate loved ones by sponsoring a light as a shining tribute to those who have passed.
The tree will be officially switched on by Dáithí Ó Sé, a long-time supporter of the Hospice.
“Our Tree of Lights Celebration is a meaningful opportunity at the end of each year for our community to come together and remember those we have lost,” says Mary Nash, Galway Hospice Chief Executive.
All are invited to come along to the event, which will feature musical performances by The Galway Tenors, Keara Sheeran Community Choirs and The Púcas.
Composed of Frank Naughton and Sean Costello, The Galway Tenors are a dynamic duo known for both their voices and their charm. Loved for their performances of Irish songs and contemporary favourites, they have entertained hundreds of thousands in Galway down through the years.
Keara Sheeran Community Choirs are three choirs that come together for special occasions, especially around the Christmas season. It consists of The IGNITE Gospel Choir, The Village Community Choir and The Claregalway Community Choir. IGNITE has been singing for 16 years in the city and the VCC and CGCC have both been going for three years. They are known for coming together to share their positivity and peace through their beautiful singing, especially around the Christmas season.
The Púcas are an upcoming traditional Irish pop duo made up of Fergal O’Hanlon from Galway and Adam O’Shea from Waterford.
Their popular festive tune ‘Christmas in Galway’ is being released as a charity Christmas single this year, with all proceeds from streams, radio play and online purchase going to Galway Hospice and Together for Hospice.
In addition to performing on the night, they will also be playing charity concerts in aid of Galway Hospice at The Róisín Dubh on 12th and 13th December.
Galway Hospice would like to thank Phil Grealish and St Columba’s Credit Union, Mervue for sponsoring the event, Coillte for sponsoring this year’s Memorial Tree and TRIUR Construction for transporting and erecting the tree.
