Crá, beginning Monday, November 11, is a six-part crime mini-series on Garda Conall Ó Súilleabháin’s forbidden investigation into the murder of his mother, whose body is discovered 15 years after her disappearance.
Conall, played by Dónall Ó Héalaí from Indreabhán, Co Galway, is joined by a determined young journalist, Ciara-Kate (newcomer Hannah Brady ), who uses her true-crime podcast to expose the village's deepest secrets.
Ó Héalaí is known for his performances in Monster and Foscadh. He is joined by the versatile Tara Breathnach, also from Galway, whose credits include Borderline and Dune 2. Their on-screen presence is bolstered by an impressive supporting cast, including Alex Murphy (The Young Offenders ), Caoimhe Farren (The Woman in the Wall ), and Alan Mahon (King Frankie ).
Crá was written by Doireann Ní Chorragáin and Richie Conroy (Fran the Man ) and directed by award-winning filmmaker Philip Doherty (Redemption of a Rogue ). Galway’s own Ciarán Charles of Connemara served as producer, while executive production credits include Darach Ó Tuairisg (Indreabhán ) of Fíbín Media and Máire Ní Chonláin from An Spidéal for TG4, alongside Karen Kirby for BBC NI.
A talented Galway crew played key roles in the production, with Mary Moylan working as second assistant director, Áine Máire Ní Thaibhis as script supervisor, and Pádraig O' Neill in the art department. Pádraig Ó Fatharta, Jojo Mylotte, and Freddie Gannon from Galway worked in the lighting department.
