Acclaimed Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band, the Red Hot Funky Peppers, return to Monroe’s Live on Friday, November 29, from 9pm, as part of their Californication 25th Anniversary and Greatest Hits Tour.
This body of work solidified the Chili Peppers as one of the world’s biggest bands and transformed the alt-rock landscape.
Known for their authentic sound that channels the Californian group, the Red Hot Funky Peppers set list features the hits that defined a rock generation.
This year marks a few changes for the band, including a name change from The Red Hot Copy Peppers to The Red Hot Funky Peppers. They also welcomed a new bassist, Hugo Oliveira, whose talent and enthusiasm have reinvigorated the group.
From the soulful strains of ‘By the Way’ to the emotive ballad ‘Under the Bridge’, and the raucous anthem ‘Give it Away’, the band’s show will have a special focus on the Californication (1999 ) album.
Led by Martin McIntyre on vocals, the group includes Andre Carvalho on lead guitar, newcomer Hugo Oliveira on bass, and Jonatan Krasuski on drums.
“Our audiences often remark on how we are not just a tribute show,” says McIntyre. “We’re true fans of the music, and that exudes from the stage.”
The Red Hot Funky Peppers’ shows are a homage to the music, drawing fans into the Chili Peppers’ world with over two hours of non-stop funk, metal, and alt-rock. Their previous shows at Monroe’s Live were met with wide acclaim.
