O’Flaherty calls for removal of seaweed on Ballyloughane beach

Independent Councillor Terry O’ Flaherty is calling on the City Council to remove the seaweed on Ballyloughane beach.

The recent storms and high winds are the cause of the high volume of seaweed that’s currently left lying on the beach, which is preventing the many daily walkers’ wheelchairs users, buggies etc, using this facility.

Numerous people like to walk on the beach particularly with the good weather we have been experiencing now.

The removal of the seaweed from the city beaches usually occurs during the bathing season, however, this massive amount left on the Ballyloughane beach requires to be removed now and to be left lying there over the winter months.

Cllr O’ Flaherty said she is aware of the volume of works that the City Council staff had to deal with from the aftermath of the recent storms and the outdoor crews did a great job in dealing with the clean-up and deserve to be commended," she added.
