Agri Aware have announced the Incredible Edibles programme for 2024/2025. The programme aims to educate primary school students about the benefits of eating Irish-grown fruits and vegetables and has been going on for 18 years now.
To celebrate the launch of this years programme Monaghan GAA player Darren Hughes joined the winners of last years competition, Scoil Mhuire Latton, from Moylagh, Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan. Chef Tara Walker also prepared taco fries packed with fresh vegetables, Bord Bia quality-assured mince, and Country Crest potatoes.
Last year the programme had 62,100 participants, and Agri Aware hope to increase this number even more this year. At the end of the school term students will prepare a project to show what they learned throughout the programme, and can be presented as a poem, presentation, story or artwork.
Agri Aware Chairman Shay Galvin said, “We at Agri Aware are delighted to bring one of our longest-standing programmes back to primary schools. It is essential that children are introduced to the benefits of eating healthy to raise awareness of the importance of buying Irish-grown produce and the health benefits they gain from eating it."
